The Oddysseed

From Seed to Compost, Join us on a journey of a seed around the Dyfi Valley and how local organisations are working to support its journey and growth in our local food system. With Roz Corbett, Jonathan Gross, Steph Robinson and Richard Edwards.

Join us for a journey of a seed around the Dyfi valley and how local organisations are working together to support its journey and growth in our local food system.

Roz is an organic market gardener and grower at Gerddi Glan Dyfi, a 1ha market garden just outside of Penegoes. She has 9 years experience market gardening on a commercial basis. She is also Crop Trials coordinator for Tir Canol, working to support local food system development in the area. She has a PhD in human geography, focusing on community landownership and farming transitions in Scotland.

Jonathan has spent the last twenty years sourcing and selling wholefoods in Machynlleth and currently works as part of the team for Dyfi Wholefoods. The recent shop expansion of Dyfi Wholefoods has allowed the shop to sell more locally sourced produce, providing retail space for growers, dairies and bakeries in the area.

Steph Robinson has had a pretty composty career so far, combining a biology degree with equity and inclusion, process design, policy, training, comms and graphic design into a big smooshy heap of what is now criw compostio. As co-founder of this local non-profit handmade peat-free compost makers who work exclusively with discarded matter to make a nutritious home for the tasty plants that we love and eat.

Richard Edwards, As Executive Director of Cultivate and Chair of Bwyd Powys Food—the Sustainable Food Places partnership for Powys—Richard Edwards works at the convergence of community-led food systems and regional preparedness. He leads work to strengthen supply chains and champion community growing. He also grows apples, pears and plums and has been known to have a passing interest in cider!
